What to expect, and how to prepare
Short version: you don't need to do a thing to prepare, and here's what the session's actually like so you're not walking in blind.
Preparing. Honestly, nothing. You don't need to read up, learn anything, or show up a certain way. If it helps to have a rough sense of what's on your mind, great, but even that's optional. Bring the muddle if that's where you're at. That's completely fine.
What actually happens.
- I'll welcome you in and set a couple of expectations. It's a conversation, not a performance.
- We usually start with a short grounding meditation to settle in. Optional, but most people like it.
- Shuffling: in person you shuffle the cards, on Zoom I shuffle for you.
- Once the deck's split, you choose from three piles.
- Then we read. There's no fixed spread. I pull the cards in threes and we follow the conversation, layer by layer, wherever it needs to go.
- I'll check in as we go, "does that land?", and I mean it. If something doesn't fit, say so. That's how we get somewhere useful.
- Near the end we usually pull a few oracle cards to tie it together.
It's collaborative the whole way through. Sometimes I'll challenge your take, sometimes I'll back it up, but we're working through it together.
