How do I join my online (Zoom) reading?
Everything you need to get onto a Zoom reading lands in your inbox before we start. No Zoom account needed, no faff. Here's how to find your link and get set up, so we're not troubleshooting your microphone in the first five minutes of your slot.
1. Dig out your confirmation email. The one that arrived the second you booked has your Zoom link in it. That's your way in. If you used the "add to calendar" buttons when you booked, the link is usually sitting in the calendar entry too, which is often the quickest place to grab it.
2. Watch for the reminder. The day before, I send a reminder with the link in it again. So if scrolling back through your inbox feels like effort, just wait for that one. It's the same link both times, I've only saved you the dig.
3. Click it a couple of minutes early. At your time, click the link and it opens Zoom in your browser or the app, whichever you've got. Joining a minute or two early means we start when we're meant to, rather than eating into your reading sorting out sound.
4. Get somewhere you can actually talk. Find a quiet spot where you can speak freely, not one where you're half-listening for who might overhear. Headphones help more than you'd think, for the sound and for the privacy both. A reading works best when you're not holding back because someone's in the next room.
Can't find the link anywhere? Check your spam folder first, because that's where it hides most of the time. Still nothing, the link is also on your booking in your customer panel, or you can just reply to your confirmation email and I'll send it straight over. Once you're in, What actually happens in a reading? walks you through the shape of the session.
Still stuck? Don't wrestle with it. Reply to any email from me, or get in touch, and a real person, me, will help you out.
