Temperance Imagery and Symbolism
The angel stands calm with eyes lowered, a small gold disc on the forehead and thin rays of light fanning out round the head. Tradition reads the disc as the sun. What changes when you stop trying to decide whether this face is masculine or feminine?
Huge red wings stretch nearly to the edges of the card. Wings have long been tied to the divine. The Lovers and Judgement have winged angels as well, so it's worth comparing what each of the three is doing.

On the chest there's a triangle inside a square, with small Hebrew letters along the neckline above it. Some people read the triangle as spirit held inside matter, and the letters are traditionally the four-letter name of God, the same ones that sit on the rim of the Wheel of Fortune.

One foot is deep in the pool and the other is on the bank. The old reading is water for feelings and land for the practical, everyday world, and this foot is properly in the water, working with it. The version people at work see versus the version people at home see. Have you got integrity there? Are you being the same person wherever you go? That's what Temperance is really about.

This card represents balance between competing elements of your life. Not the static kind of balance where everything is perfectly still, but the active kind where you're constantly adjusting. Balance here means giving appropriate attention to different areas without letting any one thing dominate at the expense of everything else.
Harmony
This card suggests harmony is being achieved or sought between things that seem incompatible. Head and heart, work and rest, ambition and contentment. Harmony doesn't mean everything agrees, it means everything is working together despite their differences. Like instruments in an orchestra, each playing their own part.
