My Approach to Tarot Reading

I don’t sugarcoat shit. We use the cards to figure out what’s actually going on, name the patterns underneath, and work out what to do next. No fortune-telling. No theatrics. Just an honest conversation that leaves you clearer than you arrived.

How I Work

I tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear

Tarot with me is honest. I won’t soften the message just to keep you comfortable, because that doesn’t help you move forward. If the cards bring up challenges or things you’ve been avoiding, we face them together. But I’m not going to be a dick about it.

I care more about clarity than comfort. You’ll get honesty, not scare tactics. Truth, not shame. Just… what’s actually going on and what you can do about it.

The future isn’t fixed

I’m not here to predict your future. I’m here to help you create it. The cards show patterns, influences, and options that exist right now. What happens next is shaped by your choices, not destiny.

You’ll leave with perspective and practical next steps. Not a script you must follow. Not a prediction you’re stuck with. Just… clarity about your options so you can choose with confidence.

Readings are conversations

This isn’t a lecture. It’s a two-way process. I bring the deck, structure, and intuition. You bring your story and insight. Together, we figure out what’s actually happening.

I’ll say what I’m seeing, you tell me if it lands. If it doesn’t, we dig deeper. If it does, we work out what to do with it. Simple.

Everyone’s welcome

You don’t need to share my spirituality for tarot to work. Religious, spiritual, sceptical, or none of the above—I meet you where you are. I’m not here to convert you to anything.

I’m queer and non-binary. I know what it’s like when spaces aren’t safe. So I make damn sure mine is. No bigotry, no misgendering, no bullshit. Care isn’t optional here.

Why these boundaries exist

I grew up in church culture and watched how easy it is to manipulate people using their beliefs and vulnerabilities. I learned those techniques. I know how to do it. But I actively choose not to.

These ethics aren’t random rules. They exist to protect you from the kind of manipulation I’ve seen damage people. Tarot can be a powerful tool for clarity and growth. I’m not interested in using it to control or exploit anyone.

How A Session Actually Works

Here’s what actually happens when we sit down for a reading:

We start with what’s on your mind. Could be a specific question, could be “I don’t know what the fuck is happening, but something feels off.” Either works. If you’re not sure how to phrase it, we’ll figure it out together.

Then we draw cards. Sometimes I use a spread, sometimes I just follow where the conversation goes. Depends on what you need. If you’ve asked for something specific, like the Mirror Moment spread or the Inspiration Unfucker spread, we’ll use that. Otherwise, we’ll pick what actually serves you.

We look at what came up. The symbols, the patterns, the story the cards are telling. I’ll share what I’m seeing, you tell me what lands and what doesn’t. This is the conversation part—not me talking at you.

We connect it to your actual life. Not vague mystical bollocks—actual choices, actual situations, actual next steps. We check what resonates, spot where there’s friction or blind spots, and map out real options.

You leave with clarity. Usually, one to three things to think about or do. Not a list of commands, just… a clearer sense of what’s going on and what you can do about it.

Who This Works For

This works best if:

  • You want guidance, not someone telling you your fate is sealed
  • You’re sceptical but willing to try something that might actually help
  • You’re navigating change, burnout, breakups, career shit, or just feeling stuck
  • You want a space where you don’t have to explain or justify who you are

Many of my clients are neurodivergent, queer, or both. Not because I market to those groups specifically, but because those communities tend to value honesty over performance. If that’s you, you’ll probably feel at home here.

What I Won’t Do

  • Predict a fixed future or give death dates
  • Diagnose health or replace medical, legal, or financial advice
  • Spy on third parties without consent
  • Scare, shame, or tell you what to do

These aren’t arbitrary rules. They’re boundaries that keep readings helpful instead of manipulative.

Ethics And Boundaries

  • Consent first. I check before we look at sensitive topics, and you can pause or stop any time
  • Confidentiality. Your reading stays private
  • Age 18+
  • Trauma-aware, LGBTQ+ inclusive language as standard

You can read my full ethics policy here: Ethical Tarot Readings.

Sceptics Welcome

You don’t need to believe in anything for this to work. Think of the cards as a mirror and the reading as a structured conversation. If something doesn’t land, we say so and look again. The point is clarity, not forcing meaning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you use reversals?

Sometimes. If reversals add something useful, I use them. If they just create noise, I don't. I'll check what you prefer at the start and stick with that for the session.

Will you tell me bad news?

I'll tell you the truth. If something difficult shows up, we name it, face it, and work out what you can actually do about it. You won't leave feeling spooked or helpless. You'll leave knowing what's going on and what your next step is.

Can you read about other people?

Not without boundaries. I don't pry into someone else's private life. We focus on your choices and your side of things. So instead of "What are they thinking about me?" we'd ask "What do I need to know about this dynamic and what's my best move?" Instead of "Will they come back?" it's "What's my most compassionate path forward and what will help me heal?"

Do I need to be spiritual or believe in tarot?

No. Just bring curiosity and honesty. Treat the cards like a mirror and the reading like a conversation that helps you think through what's actually going on.

How long are sessions and how do I choose?

Anything under 30 minutes is a taster. 30 minutes is my standard session for one clear topic. We work with 6 to 9 cards and go deep enough to peel back layers. 45 minutes is the sweet spot for most people. We can unpack nuance, sit with the conversation, look at 9 to 12 cards. 60 minutes is for full exploration. Either a big life change or several angles of a situation.

What spreads do you use?

Whatever fits the moment. Sometimes we use a spread with specific positions like Present, Challenge, and Advice. Sometimes we just read freely. Positions help organise the story. If something needs more detail, I pull clarifying cards.

Can tarot predict the future?

I don't claim to predict the future because it's not helpful. If I told you that in six weeks someone in a brown suit would hand you a million quid, you'd spend those weeks scanning for brown suits. The future isn't fixed. Tarot helps you see what's under the surface so you can make better decisions and shape what comes next. It doesn't predict your future. It helps you create it.

What if a topic feels sensitive or triggering?

We slow down. I check consent before going further, and you can pause or stop any time. If a topic isn't suited to tarot, I'll say so and suggest safer ways to approach it. Care comes first.

What should I do before and after?

Before: bring a clear question if you can, give yourself a few minutes to settle. After: take a moment before making big decisions, review your notes in a day or two, notice what still resonates. If you want more structure, I've got guides on preparing and what to do after a reading.

How confidential is the reading?

Sessions are private. I don't share details outside the session. If you need written notes for yourself, I can give you a brief summary.
